The practices and traditions of the prophet (the sunnah),
which include the hadith, are a guide to muslims in the
understanding of the Qur'an and the practice of their
religion. The Hadith are the gathered sayings of the
prophet. In many hadith, the prophet reports what Allah
said. They differ from the Qur'an in that the Qur'an is
the word of Allah exactly as revealed. The hadith are
considered to be the prophet's own words.
